The farmhouse faces the impressive Montmajour Abbey which is said to mark the entrance to the valley of the Alpilles.
This road leads its way through many infamous villages: Fontvielle with its windmills; les Baux de Provence, a medieval village perched high on its rockface; Maussane-les-Alpilles and its ‘art de vivre’; Mouriès in the heart of the olive groves; and of course Saint-Remy de Provence on the other side of the ‘Val d’Enfer’.
Looking to the south we see the rise of the wetlands and marshes of the Camargue. Following the Petit Rhone, 35km across the rice fields, lakes, papyrus beds and cattle ranches of the Camargue you reach the gorgeous sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. Discover the Saintes Maries de la Mer with its passionate culture and traditions.
